World Bank Puts Venezuela Earthquake Damage at $19.6 Billion

The World Bank estimates that twin magnitude 7.2 and 7.5 earthquakes striking Venezuela on June 24, 2026 caused $19.6 billion in physical damage across 11 provinces. Per the July 23 GRADE assessment, 47% hit residential buildings, 27% infrastructure, and 26% non-residential structures. La Guaira state and Distrito Capital suffered the most severe impacts. Reuters reported over 1,700 killed.
