Burnham becomes PM, names Miliband foreign secretary and Healey chancellor
Andy Burnham became prime minister on 20 July 2026 and formed his first cabinet, BBC News reported. Ed Miliband was appointed foreign secretary and John Healey named chancellor. Burnham is Labour's third leader in two years, after around 100 Labour MPs called for a leadership change in June. Miliband moved from the energy brief he held under Keir Starmer.
