Bethesda Confirms Fallout 5 Is in Preproduction, Will Follow Elder Scrolls VI

Bethesda Game Studios confirmed Fallout 5 is in preproduction via its official X account. Director Todd Howard called it the studio's "long-range destination" after The Elder Scrolls VI, now the primary development focus. The announcement comes over a decade after Fallout 4's November 2015 launch. A separate Fallout game is in development at Obsidian, with remasters of Fallout 3 and New Vegas also underway.
