NOAA's GOES-19 Satellite in Safehold Mode, Western Hemisphere Weather Data Interrupted
NOAA's GOES-19, the operational GOES-East satellite, entered Safehold mode by July 15, 2026, interrupting full-disk imagery, rapid-scan severe weather monitoring, lightning mapping, and space weather instruments for the Western Hemisphere. OSPO confirmed engineers are working recovery and will share a timeline when available. GOES-19 had been operational as GOES-East for roughly 15 months.
