Government delays OIA release of AI cost-benefit advice past statutory deadline
RNZ sought advice on AI costs and benefits received by Finance Minister Nicola Willis. She transferred the request to Public Service Minister Paul Goldsmith after 15 working days. His office took 19 more working days to advise a delay to 24 August — more than two months after the original request. The OIA requires a response within 20 working days. The government is simultaneously promoting rapid AI adoption across public agencies.
