Ransomware Negotiator Jailed for Selling Victims' Negotiating Secrets to BlackCat

Angelo Martino, a negotiator at incident response firm DigitalMint, was sentenced to 70 months in prison on 9 July for colluding with BlackCat ransomware operators from April 2023 onward. He sold confidential details about victims' financial positions and negotiating strategies to the attackers, enabling extraction of over $75 million in ransom from five organizations. Martino also deployed ransomware directly alongside co-conspirators.
