Trump Won't Sign Housing Bill, Linking Its Fate to Stalled Voting Rights Measure

President Trump announced Friday he will not sign the 21st Century Road to Housing Act, which passed both chambers with bipartisan support in June. Instead, Trump is conditioning approval on Senate passage of the SAVE America Act, a voting-rights bill that has stalled for lack of 60 votes. The housing bill becomes law automatically at 11:59 p.m. ET when the 10-day constitutional deadline expires, regardless of Trump's signature.
