NACC Inspector Closes Brereton Investigations Without Findings as He Walks Out

NACC Inspector Gail Furness announced on 8 July that she will not complete two investigations into founding commissioner Paul Brereton's conduct. She cited cost and systemic issues already addressed. Brereton resigned on 6 July after three years of a five-year term. A contested legal question over whether he breached public governance laws by failing to declare conflicts on 98 defence referrals remains untested.
