Disney Agrees to $20 Million Character.AI Asset Deal and Majority Staff Hire

Disney agreed to acquire certain Character.AI assets for $20 million and offer jobs to at least 60 employees, a majority of its workforce, following the startup's October Chapter 11 filing. Disney pegs annual compensation at $60 million. Most offers were accepted. The deal is a stalking-horse bid, open to higher offers.
