ITV Sheds Broadcast Business to Become Pure-Play Studio Producer

Sky, owned by Comcast, is acquiring ITV's broadcasting and streaming arm for £1.6bn, with payments contingent on 2027 ad revenues. ITV retains Studios—producer of Love Island and I'm a Celebrity—exiting distribution to focus on higher-margin global IP licensing. The deal leaves the BBC as the sole major UK broadcaster outside Comcast orbit.
