September CPI Expected to Accelerate to 3.6% on Wednesday

September CPI, due Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. ET, is expected to show inflation accelerating to 3.6% over the past year on a 0.6% monthly rise, per WSJ-surveyed economists, up from 3.4% and 0.4% in August. My take: sticky inflation is why borrowing costs stay high. Next test is the Fed's Oct. 27-28 meeting.
