Canada and allies urge Abbas to reverse Palestinian election delay

Foreign Minister Anita Anand joined British, French and Australian counterparts in a joint statement saying they "deeply regret" President Mahmoud Abbas's delay of legislative and presidential votes due in November. They urged the Palestinian Authority to hold both "without further delay." Abbas blamed Israel and security conditions.
