U.S. Imposes Sweeping Sanctions on ICC, Rubio Vows to Dismantle Court

The United States imposed sweeping sanctions on the International Criminal Court on Oct. 9, 2026, the State Department said. Secretary of State Marco Rubio vowed to dismantle the court, NPR reported Oct. 10. Treasury's OFAC logged a designation and general licenses action, including a 180-day general license authorizing certain activity involving the ICC.
