
Russian government planes circled Moscow as drone alert shut airports
Russian government aircraft returning from Vladimir Putin's Oct. 8-9 visit to Turkmenistan circled over Moscow on Oct. 9, 2026, after Ukrainian drone activity closed the capital's airports. All four Moscow airports imposed temporary restrictions lasting hours. The Kremlin did not respond to reports of interference with Putin's travel.
