20.8% of U.S. Home Listings Had Price Cuts in September, a Four-Year High

20.8% of active U.S. home listings took a price cut in September 2026, the highest monthly share since October 2022, Realtor.com reported Sept. 30. Up 0.9 points from a year earlier, the jump came as mortgage rates topped 7% and rising inventory forced sellers to compete. Buyers get more leverage, but borrowing costs remain punishing.
