Israel's Supreme Court Advises Balad Leader to Withdraw Knesset Bid

Israel's Supreme Court on Oct. 1 advised Balad leader Sami Abu Shehadeh to withdraw his candidacy for the Oct. 27 Knesset election by Friday morning or face a formal disqualification ruling. Court President Yitzhak Amit said a majority favoured disqualification. The court is hearing appeals against Central Elections Committee bans on Arab lists and candidates.
