Venezuela's Main Airport at Risk of Becoming Humanitarian Bottleneck

Two sequential earthquakes (7.2 and 7.5 magnitude) struck Venezuela on June 24–25, killing at least 188 and injuring over 1,520. Simón Bolívar International Airport in La Guaira, the country's primary relief gateway, has not been confirmed structurally intact. Any runway or terminal damage would severely constrain incoming relief flights. Venezuela's pre-existing fuel and supply shortages mean airport constraints could prove catastrophic for rescue operations already stretched across a degraded emergency response infrastructure.
