Ebola reaches France as humanitarian doctor tests positive

France's Ministry of Health confirmed on June 24 the first Ebola case on French soil: a physician who returned from the Democratic Republic of Congo. The patient contracted the Bundibugyo strain during fieldwork, not in France. European health protocols are now active. The DRC outbreak has grown to 710 confirmed cases and 149 deaths, with no licensed vaccine available for this strain.
