Trump administration asks Supreme Court to allow denial of transgender prison care during appeal

The Trump administration asked the U.S. Supreme Court on Sept. 28 to let federal prisons deny gender-affirming care to transgender inmates while litigation continues. Solicitor General D. John Sauer filed the emergency request. Two lower courts blocked the January 2025 executive order. The Court sought a response from prisoners' lawyers by Oct. 8.
