Coogee Shark Attack Victim Regains Consciousness After Amputation
Leah Stewart, a Coogee resident, has woken following surgery to amputate her arm after a suspected white shark attack on June 13 at the Sydney beach. Stewart was bitten approximately 30 metres from shore, sustaining severe wounds to her left leg and arms. She remains in critical condition at St Vincent's Hospital. The attack on one of Sydney's busiest metropolitan beaches has renewed focus on coastal safety protocols.
