Santa Marta Paralyzed by Armed Group's 72-Hour Blockade

On September 24, threats by the Autodefensas Conquistadoras de la Sierra Nevada, a Santa Marta-based crime group, brought Santa Marta to a standstill. The group announced a 72-hour armed transportation blockade and shutdown of civilian activities, halting commerce and transport. Losing a port city, even briefly, hands the group visible leverage.
