Argentina poverty rises to 32.3% in first half of 2026

Argentina's poverty rate reached 32.3% in the first half of 2026, up from 28.2% in late 2025, INDEC reported Sept. 24, 2026. Per-person income rose 11.5% while the poverty basket rose nearly 20%. Extreme poverty rose to 7.5%. The reading reverses a fall from nearly 53% in early 2024 under President Javier Milei.
