Reform UK breaks Labour grip in Wakefield with first council seat

Steve Lewis won Normanton ward (Ward 10) on Wakefield Borough Council in May elections, marking Reform UK's first representation on the metropolitan borough council. The seat is held in territory Labour has historically dominated — a post-industrial area reshaped by the miners' strike and 2016 Brexit vote, in which the region voted heavily to leave.
