Greens find $800 million error in wealth tax costings

The Green Party has revised its tax policy costings after discovering an $800–826 million calculation error. Inland Revenue funding for administering the wealth and inheritance tax was recorded as revenue rather than a cost, overstating net proceeds. The Greens corrected the error quietly after identifying it. The policy—a 2.5 percent levy on assets above $10 million and 33 percent tax on inheritances over $1 million—remains unchanged.
