Senate fails to advance Clarity Act in 49-50 vote

The Senate voted 49-50 against advancing the Clarity Act, Yahoo Finance reported Sept. 17, stalling federal rules for crypto trading and custody. The Wall Street Journal reported Sept. 20 the Washington push fell apart. For savers and investors, that means no single federal framework yet, so exchanges keep operating under existing regulators.
