Over 90% of unaccompanied children in federal custody with new immigration court cases in August were placed in Texas shelters, up from almost 80% in July, per bklg.org analysis shared with the Guardian. Of 925 Texas-based children in proceedings, 651 arrived in those two months. Texas refuses state licensing for federal shelters.
