Survivor says 37 detainees may have suffocated in crowded Niger cell
Survivor Dauda Shehu told The Associated Press that 65 detainees were packed into a poorly ventilated cell at the NSCDC facility in northeastern Niger State and may have suffocated. He said they scrambled for fresh air and banged on the door. Officials linked the 37 deaths to disease, with bodies sent for medical examination.
