Meta Ordered to Remove Deepfake Smearing Scottish Councillor on Refugees

Meta's Oversight Board ordered Meta to remove a Facebook deepfake falsely showing a Scottish Labour councillor saying: "Refugees are welcome here, even if they rape our women, because white people do that too." The Board said audio misaligned with lip movements signalled AI manipulation and the clip breached hate-conduct rules on refugees. Meta had left it up.
