Apple must open iOS to rival app stores in Brazil within 105 days

Apple has settled an antitrust case with Brazil's competition regulator, agreeing to allow alternative app stores and third-party payment processing on iOS within 105 days. The settlement makes Brazil the fourth major jurisdiction—after the EU, South Korea, and the UK—to force structural changes to Apple's closed App Store model. iPhone users will gain direct payment options outside Apple's infrastructure; developers can distribute apps outside the App Store itself.
