National proposes split of Pak'nSave and New World to lower prices

National would investigate splitting Foodstuffs' Pak'nSave and New World into separate companies to increase competition and lower grocery prices, the party said on 16 September 2026. National says the split would leave three nationwide chains, including Pak'nSave and New World/Four Square, as part of its 2026 election pitch.
