Former Kosovo President Hashim Thaci Sentenced to 25 Years for War Crimes

Former Kosovo President Hashim Thaci, 58, was convicted of four war crimes counts and sentenced to 25 years by the Kosovo Specialist Chambers in The Hague on 16 September 2026. Presiding Judge Charles Smith read the sentence. Thaci denies the charges. I expect the appeal and enforcement will show whether Kosovo's hybrid court can insulate cases from politics.
