Harper backs Carney decision to walk away from U.S. trade talks

Former prime minister Stephen Harper says the federal government had no choice but to walk away from trade talks with the United States, backing Prime Minister Mark Carney's decision. Harper delivered closing remarks Sept. 15, 2026 at the Canada Investment Summit in Toronto, calling the decision very difficult.
