Massie files articles of impeachment against Hegseth over Iran war

Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., moved Sept. 15, 2026, to impeach Secretary Pete Hegseth over Iran, reading the articles on the House floor. It says Hegseth waged the war illegally as "high crimes and misdemeanors" and defied Congress's withdrawal order. The Pentagon defended Hegseth. The administration said the conflict was necessary to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon.
