Arcline Takes AstroNova Private for $272 Million

AstroNova, a Nasdaq-listed industrial technology company, agreed on June 17 to be acquired by Nashville-based PE firm Arcline Investment Management for $29.00 per share in an all-cash transaction valuing the company at approximately $272 million. The deal removes the specialized test-and-measurement manufacturer from public markets. For small-cap companies, remaining listed has become increasingly costly relative to the benefits—analyst coverage is sparse, compliance overhead is substantial, and liquidity is thin. Going private with a focused sponsor allows management to invest in product development without quarterly earnings pressure.
