20 private equity firms' energy assets emit 1.5bn tons a year

Twenty private equity firms' energy holdings emit 1.5 billion tons of greenhouse gases yearly, exceeding any country's emissions except China, the US, India and Russia, the Private Equity Climate Risks Consortium found. The firms, managing $7.3 trillion, own 370 fossil plants and 15,000 miles of pipeline. I see disclosure gaps for private owners as the next test.
