At least 50 St Barts-linked people tied to slave trade, research finds

At least 50 people with financial ties to St Bartholomew's, London's oldest hospital, were directly linked to transatlantic trafficking, the Register of British Slave Traders reported 14 September 2026. Many donors in its Great Hall gave while invested in trafficking-built firms. Barts Health NHS Trust states further links were identified. What commemoration means in a working hospital is the question.
