Sydney Mother in Critical Condition After Three-to-Four-Metre Shark Attack at Coogee Beach

Leah Stewart was mauled by a shark at Coogee Beach on Saturday, 13 June, and underwent multiple surgeries. An off-duty lifeguard witnessed her being dragged underwater and helped pull her out; council lifeguards stationed on-site responded immediately. The shark was estimated at three to four metres long. All eastern suburbs beaches were closed; authorities deployed jet ski and drone patrols to monitor for further shark presence.
