Jensen Huang Wins IEEE Medal of Honor for NVIDIA's GPU and CUDA Architecture
NVIDIA's Jensen Huang has been named the 2026 IEEE Medal of Honor recipient, the organization's highest individual award since 1917. The honor recognizes Huang's three-decade role in building NVIDIA from graphics accelerator vendor into the dominant supplier of parallel compute infrastructure for AI workloads. The CUDA programming model, introduced in 2006, proved critical infrastructure for deep learning at industrial scale. The award marks formal community validation of architectural decisions that shaped the hardware substrate underlying current AI systems.
