Linux Kernel Patch Targets Cgroup Locking Bottleneck in Container Workloads

On September 9, 2025, kernel developer Yi Tao submitted revision four of a patch series to replace the global percpu_rwsem lock in the cgroup subsystem with granular locking. The change targets contention between cgroup migration and fork/exec operations that degrades process-spawn throughput on container orchestrators and CI/CD systems. The v4 designation signals iterative refinement through LKML review; merge into a stable kernel release remains pending maintainer sign-off.
