Prime Minister Christopher Luxon survived a second leadership confidence vote in August 2026, 12 weeks out from the election. After the first vote in April, he fronted a defiant two-minute press conference at the Beehive. After this one, he took no questions and would not say who called it. National's polls remain weak.
