Marco Perego at Locarno Pro: indie producers chasing money should "go work for a bank"

Producer Marco Perego told Locarno Pro attendees on 10 August 2026 that independent film producers should not work for money: "Go work for a bank." The Locarno industry strand draws over 1,000 professionals. Perego, who this year became the first producer to land three Cannes Competition titles, urged producers to protect directors' vision, saying "the vision is not yours" (The Hollywood Reporter).
