Ben Jones, Cooter on 'The Dukes of Hazzard,' dies at 84

Ben Jones, who played mechanic Cooter Davenport on 'The Dukes of Hazzard' across 142 episodes, died on 9 August 2026 from a heart attack at 84. His wife Alma Viator announced the death in a Facebook post, Variety reported. Co-star Tom Wopat paid tribute on Instagram. Jones later served two terms in the U.S. House.
