Inaugural Los Angeles Jazz Festival Cancelled Hours Before Launch

Founder and CEO Martin Ludlow cancelled the inaugural Los Angeles Jazz Festival on 7 August 2026, hours before opening. The citywide event, scheduled 7–23 August, had booked John Legend, Janelle Monáe and Parliament-Funkadelic, with 250,000 attendees expected. Ludlow cited unanticipated public safety and municipal permitting costs. Hundreds of artists, crews and vendors lose booked work; ticketholder refunds remain pending.
