The Odyssey overtakes Avatar as Imax's biggest release ever with $289 million

Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey is now Imax's highest-grossing release ever, with $289 million from Imax screens alone, surpassing Avatar's $271 million held since 2009, per Variety. The first feature shot entirely with Imax cameras, it has grossed $1.1 billion worldwide. It opens in China on 14 August.
