World No. 1 Sabalenka falls in Toronto, third early exit of the summer

Top seed Aryna Sabalenka lost 7-6 (7-3) 4-6 6-4 to Ekaterina Alexandrova in the Canadian Open last 16 in Toronto, a match lasting almost two and a half hours. It is her third consecutive deep-tournament exit this summer, following quarter-final and last-16 departures at the French Open and Wimbledon. The US Open begins 31 August.
