The Atlantic hires Madeleine Carlisle, Stephen Colbert's daughter, from 60 Minutes
The Atlantic has hired Madeleine Carlisle, 30, daughter of Stephen Colbert, as a staff writer, calling the appointment "a homecoming." Carlisle was an Atlantic editorial fellow in 2018–2019 before joining 60 Minutes in 2022 as an associate producer. Her 60 Minutes investigation into crypto billionaire Changpeng Zhao earned an Emmy nomination for outstanding investigative coverage, according to editor in chief Jeffrey Goldberg's memo. The Atlantic also hired Danyel Smith, former editor of Vibe and Billboard, as a second staff writer. Carlisle's exit adds to 60 Minutes departures under CBS News editor-in-chief Bari Weiss, including correspondents Scott Pelley, Sharyn Alfonsi, and Cecilia Vega.
