Defending champion Pauline Ferrand-Prévot withdrew from the 2026 Tour de France Femmes before stage eight on 8 August, citing illness. Her exit came with two stages left, on the penultimate day from Sisteron to Nice. Kasia Niewiadoma-Phinney held the yellow jersey, 15 seconds ahead of Demi Vollering, heading into the final mountain stage.
