Journalist quits Chronicle, documents Oakland encampment eviction in debut doc "Wood Street"

Caron Creighton left the San Francisco Chronicle in 2022 to film "Wood Street," a 100-minute documentary on residents fighting Oakland's demolition of Northern California's largest homeless encampment. The film has sold out three Bay Area screenings and played BlackStar in Philadelphia, with regional festival dates ahead. Creighton shot roughly 95% herself. Oakland displaced an estimated 300 residents in 2023.
