National Gallery's £250,000 Citizens' Assembly branded 'barking mad'

The National Gallery in London spent £250,000 on a Citizens' Assembly of 50 people selected by civic lottery from 15,000 UK households, some of whom had never visited. Conservative politicians and an art conservation group branded the project "barking mad," The Times and The Telegraph reported. The gallery has not said whether recommendations will be binding.
