FA bans concrete pitch barriers after Billy Vigar's death

The FA has banned solid concrete, brick and breeze block pitch perimeter barriers for the 2026-27 season, following a safety review launched after 21-year-old Billy Vigar died from a brain injury sustained colliding with a concrete wall while playing for Chichester City in September 2025. The FA and Premier League will fund replacement work at affected non-league and women's clubs.
